Formal Education and Training: I graduated with a Masters of Science in Counseling from Portland State University in June of 2016. My curriculum centered marriage, couple, and family therapy including courses in human development, diagnosis and treatment, ethics, multicultural practice, assessments, and group work. In addition to individual counseling, I am trained to work with children, families, and couples.
As a conditional licensee, I have met the requirements for this license and am currently working under professional supervision until I have obtained the experience necessary for full licensure in the State of Maine. If you choose to work with me, I may discuss your case with my supervisor. I may also ask for your permission to have my supervisor sit in on a session. If this makes you uncomfortable, you are free to decline.
As a client of a conditionally licensed counselor, you have the following rights:
• To be assured of privacy and confidentiality while receiving services as defined by rule and law, including the following exceptions: 1) Threat of serious harm to self or others. 2)Reasonable suspicion of child abuse, or neglect of a child, or abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a vulnerable adult. 3) Court Order 4) Voluntary release signed by client or guardian 5) During supervisory consultations.
• To obtain a copy of the Code of Ethics;
• To report complaints to the Board;
• To be informed of the cost of professional services before receiving the services;
• To be free from discrimination because of age, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, national origin, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, or socioeconomic status.
Philosophy and Approach: In a swiftly changing world, most of us struggle to adjust from time to time. My approach to therapy comes from a wellness perspective; I believe that we all have the ability to access optimal health when we learn to listen to our quietest inner voices. It’s easy to become distracted from a healthy way of living; my role is to offer authentic support and guidance toward the path that brings you satisfaction and a sense of purpose. Therapy is a collaborative process and we will work together to obtain your goals. My approach includes, but is not limited to: emotion focused, narrative, attachment, and client-centered therapies. I lean into expressive arts therapy as a means for creating a dynamic and nurturing environment with a focus on freedom of expression.
Fees: For individuals; $60.00 for a 50 minute session or $80.00 for a 90 minute session. For Couples; $85.00 for a 50 minute session or $100.00 for a 90 minute session. For a family of three; $120.00 for a 90 minute session plus $20.00 for each additional family member. I also have several slots available on a sliding scale for those in need. I am currently unable to bill insurance but will gladly provide receipts for service for possible reimbursement.
The counseling profession is regulated by the Board of Counseling Professionals Licensure. Any violation of laws and rules pertaining to the licensee and the practice of counseling are subject to disciplinary action by the board.
